Ester’s Eunoia: Wellness & Self-Development Blog Space.
Eunoia is a term used in rhetoric to describe the goodwill a speaker cultivates between themselves and their audience. It is derived from the Greek word meaning “goodwill towards others” or “beautiful thinking“. Aristotle uses the term “eunoia” to refer to the kind and benevolent feelings of goodwill that a spouse has and that form the basis for the ethical foundation of human life.
Ester’s eunoia is a space where I share some key lessons, gratitude, and ideologies that have helped me develop into a better person for myself and others. I do this with the hope that it encourages and empowers others to be brave, and vulnerable with themselves; to be solution-focused, and to take actionable steps that help them achieve the goals that hold deep meaning to them.
It is easy to set goals but it is difficult to implement them intentionally when we are faced with emotional and mental blockages such as limiting beliefs and unhelpful habits. I built this space to fulfill my desire to share my journey of betterment; this is a space of vulnerability and accountability by challenging my limiting beliefs and making use of the resources I have around me to their fullest capacity.
I am hopeful for the development of this space and the value it can potentially offer to others.
The History Of This Site: &Eunoia -> Ester’s Eunoia
My attraction towards writing blogs began whilst I was at university where I would volunteer my time as a part of the student wellbeing team. One of the responsibilities was to write blogs surrounding the NHS’ six ways to wellbeing. The title of my first blog was ‘Take Notice: Accepting The Now’ . I showed it to my peer who found it helpful and unique in the way I approached my day-to-day; my friends and my coach have complimented how I reflected on things which added to my sense of purpose which I feel is to inspire, encourage, innovate, help, and lead. As time went on it was difficult to force conversations and reflections that adhered to the framework I had (blogs to do with the six ways of wellbeing, take notice; connect; learn and discover; give; get active, and be healthy). This led to me leaving the blog site inactive until today. Hence, why you may still see some signatures labeled ‘& Eunoia’ or one of the six ways i.e.’ take notice’.
Target Audience
This space is open to everyone, as we don’t need to be identical to benefit from each other’s experiences. However, I will focus on topics that resonate with my career and lifestyle as a business owner and entrepreneur.
What can you expect?
With Ester’s Eunoia, I have changed the approach so I can be more flexible with what I write. This framework is focused on self-development goals that cover the areas in my life that take up space in my mind and my day-to-day activities.
The Key Elements of Ester’s Eunoia:
- Blog Posts: Dedicated blog posts for each aspect of my wellness journey.
- Reflections: A series of cumulative thinking in the form of short blog posts. Cumulative thinking is about seeing patterns and making connections. I believe it’s a way in which we build wisdom, as it’s a reflection on our experiences of trial and error (declarative knowledge), but also learning from the experience of others. These are just self-development conversations that are intended to be something that can be related to and helpful to enhance further conversation and thought. Each post will always be open for commentary so we can discuss topics together.
- Quotes of the day: A series of quotes, affirmations, and sometimes poetry posted weekly.
- Extras: Calendar widget that shows recent posts; reading playlist, comment section, and social links to share or engage with (I have set up a Tumblr, Pinterest & Instagram account).
I have various self-development goals (which I will share as I begin to post) that loosely transcribe the 8 dimensions of wellness:
- Physical Wellness: The proactive maintenance of the body.
- Intellectual Wellness: The ability to learn, grow, and use the mind.
- Emotional Wellness: The awareness and management of feelings and emotions
- Social Wellness: The quality and quantity of relationships and interactions with others.
- Spiritual Wellness: The sense of meaning, purpose, and connection with something greater.
- Occupational Wellness: The satisfaction and fulfillment from work or other productive activities.
- Financial Wellness: The management and stability of income and expenses.
- Environmental Wellness: The impact and harmony with the natural and built surroundings.
To the side (or at the bottom) you will see a calendar that circles all my posts and activities in the month (if you would like to look back). With each post, I will embed a link to the Playlist I put together as you read, an extensive list can be found on Tidal and Spotify. However, if you do not have a subscription you will only be able to hear a 30-second snippet of each song which can be annoying.
Blog Posts will be uploaded every Sunday.
Notice
Finally, to my audience, I am grateful to those who came to this part of this site to hear my thoughts but, I would like to give a slight notice. As an entrepreneur, I have more dominion and flexibility over my time and finances making this space best catered to other entrepreneurs who have similar priorities.
I have gone through various transitions and my tone, when I reflect, may sound dismissive or fickle at times. I will aim to be cautious about this as I respect that some of what I talk about can be emotionally triggering for those who may resonate with a difficult phase that is being mirrored. These reflections are to hold myself accountable, which requires a lot of vulnerability. You can trust in my desire to not shame past thoughts and behaviours I had that others can relate to as I am simply a human who has flaws and is capable of change. I hope you can do the same if I talk about moving away from an experience that sounds close to what you are going through currently.
